Academics

"The unexamined life is not worth living." - Socrates

Thousands of young men and women each year leave home to pursue an examination of life, whatever direction they may take it: scientific, artistic, philosophical, psychological. We are all here at college to pursue knowledge. The Order of Prometheus recognizes this fact as a good and positive thing for people young and old. It has incorporated as one of its main ideals the pursuit of knowledge, i.e. academics. Theta Omega Phi is a fraternal order IN an academic setting. To ignore this fact would be to turn into a gin-mill: an all too easy feat for social organizations.

We encourage both our pledges and our brothers to strive to do the best that they can academically. For a vast majority of the semesters that Potsdam's Inter-Fraternity Council Academic Scholarship has been available, Prometheus Fraternity has held it. And as an added inventive to our membership, scholarships are made available every semester to the Cabinet Member and the Pledge Class Member with the highest grade point averages.

As a fraternity, we must not lose sight of why we came to SUNY Potsdam in the first place - to better ourselves in order to better the world.
